Why isn't Obama crushing McCain?

A conversation with two prominent journalists and a Bush-Cheney campaign official about why, in what should be a Democratic year, Obama can't put McCain away.

A key factor in this is still the lack of enthusiasm of 30% of Hillary Clinton's supporters to Obama's presidential bid. It is likely that America's great divide between blue and red will remain whomever get elected in November.

Very true. The Hilary supporters I know are very bitter about her loss, and some are thinking the unthinkable, of voting for McCain. "McCain Democrat" is the most idiotic term I've heard. There's no comparison to Reagan; Reagan Democrats came after the failure of Carter's administration (justified or not). There's no reason to jump ship and support the Republican party when they've trashed the country for the last 8 years.
