Now that charges against Ted Stevens will be dropped, many Alaskans hope the shame that has shadowed their former senator will finally lift. Some even wished for a re-do of the Senate race that finally ousted Stevens from the seat he had held for 40 years.....

the justice system is partially fault in the Steven's case, but then it would seem that the public's short attention span might also be at fault in this and similar scenarios
