Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse accused the Bush administration today of perpetuating a "near avalanche of falsehood" on the subject of detainee treatment. He said the Department of Justice "bastardized" the law so the Bush administration could torture prisoners that did not result in any actionable intelligence. He demanded accountability.
